Image Processing
PuzzleFlow offers a set of modules used for processing bitmaps. Downsampler is used for generating low-definition previews, which may be used in the process of preparing publications. After finishing work on the document, you can return to high-definition images with the help of OPI Resolver. Resampler reduces the definition of images to the needs of proofs, or it copies the images into separate files. PreviewGenerator creates pages previews, which may be used for the review of the effects of the system functioning or for the presentation of the documents on the Internet. Bitmap modules can process PDF files, as well as popular graphic formats such as TIFF, JPEG, ScitexCT, EPS and DCS.
OPIResolver
The OPI Resolver module replaces low-resolution images with high-resolution data. Individual images are searched by the Resource module according to the OPI comments and embedded in the PDF. The module accepts TIFF, JPEG, ScitexCT, EPS, DCS and PDF coded objects as high-resolution files. Optionally, the module can also remove OPI comments or correct them by inserting proper references to the missing objects. The embedded high-resolution images can be compressed using JPEG, ZIP, RunLength or CCITT Fax Encoding algorithms, depending on the embedded image type.
Resampler
The Resampler module decreases bitmaps resolution in PDF documents for the optimal data size and proper image resolution. High-resolution bitmaps can be removed from the job, saved in the outside folder (to be placed back by the OPIResolver module after correction) or retained in the output document as alternate images – exclusively used only for printing purposes. Resampled images can be compressed using ZIP, JPEG, RunLength or CCITT compression schemes, depending on the image type.
ImageCompressor
The ImageCompressor module recompresses images embedded in the PDF file. Selected compression method (JPEG, ZIP, CCITT Fax Encode or RunLength) can be applied for all images or just for the uncompressed images only, distinctively for color, grayscale, and black and white (1-bit) images.
Downsampler
The Downsampler module creates low-resolution (proxy) images out of high-resolution images. It accepts TIFF, JPEG, ScitexCT, EPS, DCS and PDF input formats. The low-resolution preview data can be saved as TIFF or EPSF. They can be used by page layout software and swapped back with the corresponding high-resolution data by the OPIResolver module.
PreviewGenerator
The PreviewGenerator plugin makes low-resolution previews (layouts) from PDF document pages. A nice feature of the Preview Generator module is an ability to generate both separated and composite previews. The module can do an optional on-fly separation and/or recombination of the input file, as well.
